If you have your eyes set on Kindle Unlimited, using the yearly subscription plans for Kindle Unlimited is a great way to save some money and benefit from the unlimited reading feature. But, accessing the Kindle Unlimited yearly subscription is not as straightforward as you might think!
Generally speaking, Kindle Unlimited is a monthly subscription service, and Amazon doesn’t offer a standard yearly subscription with Kindle Unlimited. However, you can take advantage of the Kindle Unlimited Membership Gift option to get a 6-month, 12-month, or 24-month subscription.
In this article, I’ll explain to you the exact steps that you need to follow in order to get a Kindle Unlimited membership for more than a month! So, without any further delay, let’s get started!
Quick Tip! Check out this special deal on Amazon that offers 3-months of Kindle Unlimited for FREE with this Kindle model! You can also try Kindle Unlimited for 30 days for FREE (no strings attached!)
How Much Does Kindle Unlimited Cost?
Typically, the membership fee of Kindle Unlimited is $9.99 per month. This membership fee includes access to over 2 million book titles, audiobooks, and magazines.
As mentioned above, Amazon doesn’t provide a longer-duration Kindle Unlimited subscription. Once you sign up for Kindle Unlimited, you will have to pay on a monthly basis. The payment gets automatically deducted from your account.
However, there are certain situations when Kindle users get a special deal that allows them to get access to Kindle Unlimited for more than a month.
For instance, you can receive up to 4 months of Kindle Unlimited for FREE (Read the T&C here) when you add a Kindle (2022 version) and complete the purchase through Amazon!
Likewise, Amazon also provides special deals on all its products and services, including Kindle Unlimited, around the Prime Day Sales (usually in July every year). So, if Prime Day is around the corner, you’d be better off waiting for the deals.
But what if you don’t want to buy a new Kindle or can’t wait for Prime day to arrive? Is there something that can be done?
In the following section, I’ll share with you a ninja tip on getting longer subscription deals with Kindle Unlimited! So, continue reading!
Does Kindle Unlimited Have a Yearly Subscription?
If you’ve been following along, you probably already know that Kindle Unlimited typically doesn’t provide a yearly subscription.
However, there is a workaround!
You see, Amazon allows you to gift Kindle Unlimited memberships to your friends and family. The Kindle Unlimited gifting option allows you to pay for a 6-month, 12-month, or 24-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited upfront on behalf of your loved one!
This option is available throughout the year, and you don’t have to wait for “Prime Day” to arrive! More importantly, you also save some money using the longer-term subscriptions as compared to what you’d typically pay monthly for the same amount of time (6, 12, or 24 months).
But, here’s the best part – you can gift a Kindle Unlimited membership to yourself by using another Amazon account or simply using the account of your friend/spouse/family member!
Here is how it works –
- Make sure you are signed into an Amazon account other than that of yourself
- Open the “Gift Kindle Unlimited” page by clicking on the link
- Choose the membership duration from the 6-month, 12-month, or 24-month option
- Enter your email address in the “recipient email address” field. This email address should be the same as the one associated with your Kindle book purchases.
- Proceed to make the payment and complete the order
- You should receive an email with the steps to activate your Kindle Unlimited subscription
Voila! You should now be able to access a fully prepaid Kindle Unlimited subscription that is more than one month in duration!
Additionally, you also save some money in the process. Here’s how much you actually save using this method –
- For the 6-month plan –
- Usually costs – $59.94
- You pay – $47.86
- Savings – $12.08 (20%)
- For the 12-month plan
- Usually costs – $119.88
- You pay – $80.30
- Savings – $39.58 (33%)
- For the 24-month plan
- Usually costs – $239.76
- You pay – $143.80
- Savings – $95.96 (40%)
